Since its initial inception, Equal Opportunities West has provided supported employment services to the community
Employment specialists’ work with individuals who may have work barriers such as physical or intellectual disability; or mental health issues, but are able to hold competitively paid jobs.
Currently 30 to 40 potential job-seekers per year utilize Equal Opportunities West to help participants develop or improve resumes, fill out job applications and requirements, as well as receive advice on how to approach a job interview and work with potential employers to hold steady, long-term employment.
The expectation is that someone receiving this type of service will be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Along with finding fulfilling work, Equal Opportunities West provides recreational activities that promote friendship, physical activity, and social skills.

EOW was certified as an Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) depot in 2015.
We accept old computers, hard drives, and other electronic items that might be sitting on a shelf somewhere collecting dust.
Once items are donated, those involved in our program get to work breaking down each device, stripping wires, removing screws, dismantling circuit boards and separating aluminum, metal, and plastic.
The Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP) provides people in Winnipeg who self-identify as living with a disability with the resources and tools to help them start their own businesses.
Employment and Income Assistance wants to learn more about the skills and experiences of clients who are enrolled in EIA in the disability category. This will help us better understand their needs and how EIA can support them to meet their goals including, whenever possible, successfully re-entering the workforce.
